White Bear Area Chamber's Advocacy in Action!

Need PPE before you reopen? Great resource for your
Personal Protective Equipment Needs!

Do you need to find the appropriate CDC approved safety equipment for your employees? We urge you to buy from local businesses! For your needs, start your shopping on our WEBSITE for local businesses that have the necessary safety equipment! Also, there are suppliers all over the state who can provide accessibility, short lead-times, shared networks, and trusted quality. For example, Thread Art has face masks available that can be printed with your logo and Generate 360 Consulting has a variety of signage options to help you regulate your safety protocols. Please let us know if your businesses has products or services available to help our businesses reopen in a safe and sustainable way.

Search the Minnesota Supplier Match database of more than 1000 Minnesota suppliers by keyword or product/service category. There is a separate category for COVID-19 related goods and services. MN Supplier Match is available free to all Chamber businesses during the COVID-19 crisis.

Now that you have taken the time to rethink your operations and plan for your repening, we encourage you to share with the public what you have done and how you did it. Use your customer database and social media to show the changes that you have made to your facilities and explain how you are ready to safely reopen. We would be happy to help you with this! Send us your plans and we'll get them on our website as well! Together, we will rebound!

We would be happy to announce and celebrate your reopening! Contact us if you would like to schedule a special Open For Business Ribbon Cutting! We will share your reopening and photos on our website and social media platforms! (Protocols for crowd size gatherings and social distancing will be respected and enforced!)

WEDNESDAY - Bringing the Workforce Back to Work - Challenges around COVID-19

Bringing the Workforce Back to Work - Challenges around COVID-19.
Virtual Meeting: Wednesday, May 20th | 3:00pm

Please join us for a presentation from Chamber Member, Eckberg Lammers Law Firm for a brief discussion addressing some of the below questions, and others, around returning to work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

When the Governor lifts the stay orders as to a particular business sector, what happens when business owners want to reopen or have employees return to work, and employee’s feel unsafe and do not want to work?
  • Can employees who have the ability to work from home demand the ability to continue working from home?  Or can the Employer require them to return to the office?
  • Can an employer terminate an employee who refuses to return to work (assuming EE does not otherwise qualify for COVID-related eFMLA leave or other similar leave)?
  • Will such an employee who is terminated be entitled to unemployment benefits?
  • How can an Employer and employees protect themselves? Who is liable if someone in the workforce gets COVID-19?
There will be opportunity to ask additional questions! Please RSVP and we will send you the LINK prior to start time.

Virtual Women in Business - Bringing Hope and a Sense of Well-Being

Bringing Hope and a Sense of Well-Being
Presentation by Mary Verstraete, PCC
Thursday, May 28, 2020

From Wherever You Are!
11:30am - 1:00pm
There will be a “flattening of the curve” that curtails COVID-19 and enables people to move toward a more familiar way of life; however, it won’t be the same kind of normal because of the enormous losses–not just financially, but in lost lives, broken dreams, broken hearts. People experiencing overwhelming concern, exhaustion, limiting mindsets, and a long list of other implications because of the challenging crises will be inevitable. The world will be different; the impact far reaching.

Adjusting to a new reality is vitally important to well-being, and communication tools can be effective in helping people generate their unique mindset that is needed to face the future. This presentation will begin to address these questions and give us tools that can influence the development of a courageous mindset for the future that lies ahead.

We encourage you to grab some great takeout from one of our local businesses, (OPEN FOR BUSINESS) and join in some great networking, inspiring conversations and supportive help. If you haven't been to a Women in Business lunch - please join us to connect, learn & grow. Registration is required and you will receive a link to connect to the meeting one day prior to the event.
Looking forward to seeing everyone! Stay well and stay strong!

We will hear from Ellen about what they have done to help the small businesses in their recovery and also learn about what they hope to do in the immediate future. Join in on this important conversation with the city and feel free to ask questions and present your ideas.
