The White Bear Area Chamber of Commerce hereby has given notice of three (3) vacancies on the Board of Directors for the 2013 - 2016 term. The White Bear Area Chamber Nominations Committee is recommending the following nominees to fill the 2013 - 2016 Board of Directors positions. All nominees have expressed their willingness to serve, have read the formal job description and completed a Board application. Nominations are as follows: Wendy Benson - CLA Community Mailings Charlie Gatrell - White Bear Lake Superstore John Lupo - Grandma's Bakery Additional names of condidates for Directors can be nominated by petition bearing the genuine signatures of at least twelve (12) qualified members of the Chamber. Candidate Forum Lunch
Wednesday, October 31st Registration 11:30am Lunch & Program 12:00-1:15pm With the election fast approaching we have scheduled a special candidates forum for Wednesday, October 31st at Jimmy’s Event Center, 3565 Labore Road, Vadnais Heights. Registration starts at 11:30am. followed by lunch and program from 12:00-1:15 pm. Legislative races that encompass the White Bear area will be the focus. Candidate questions will include tax policy, regulatory issues, and White Bear Lake water level. The majority of the program will be devoted to questions from the audience. It is vitally important that candidates running for the state legislature hear the concerns of the local business community. Even if you don’t live in the district where these candidates reside, your business pays taxes and you might have people employed who live in the White Bear area. Most often, these candidates hear from special interest groups that are not privy to our local business concerns. That is why your voice at this special candidates forum is extremely important. Professional Development Thursday, November 1st Registration and networking 7:30-8:00am Program 8:00-9:00am On Thursday, November 1st we are holding a special Professional Development round table. The goal of this meeting is to cut your taxes, purchase less raw materials, and lower your waste hauling charges. In Ramsey County there is a fee or tax based on the amount of waste your business produces. We will review case studies where companies have saved thousands of dollars by following specific guidelines to reduce their waste. The objective of this program is to provide you with specific action steps that will save you money while lowering your companies waste stream Our presenters are: Laura M. Babcock is the director of the University of Minnesota Technical Assistance Program. Laura is responsible for developing programs to meet business’ needs, pursuing funding opportunities for program activities, and providing technical assistance to businesses in Minnesota. A.J. Van den Berghe: A.J. provides technical assistance in the areas of industrial energy use. Program Presenter University of Minnesota’s Business Technical Assistance Program.
