Located in the heart of Monclova, OH, the Monclova Community Center has a rich history that dates back to the early 20th century. Originally constructed in 1912, the building served as Monclova School, a pivotal institution for local education that replaced a former one-room schoolhouse at the corner of Lose and Monclova Roads. Celebrated for its beautiful architecture and significant role in the community, the school educated area students for over six decades until it closed in 1974.
Following its closure, the building stood neglected for nearly 25 years, a shadow of its former glory. However, in 1997, the formation of the Monclova Historical Foundation, supported by the Monclova Township Trustees and local community members, marked the beginning of a new chapter. Recognizing the structural soundness and historical value of the old school, the community rallied to save and repurpose this cherished landmark.
The transformation into a community center became the clear vision for the building’s future. Through relentless fundraising efforts and generous private donations, the East Wing and the main floor of the West Wing were meticulously renovated. Today, the Monclova Community Center is a vibrant hub of activity, serving as a gathering place for people of all ages.
The center now offers extensive banquet and meeting facilities, available for public rental. These spaces host a variety of events including wedding receptions, company parties, baby showers, and birthday celebrations, along with educational workshops and seminars. Our community center is also a place where individuals can engage in enriching classes and community activities, ensuring that the legacy of the Monclova School continues in service to the community.
