Last Month, The Chamber Partnership joined the "Heroin Steals the Future – There is Help Campaign" and this month the Chamber will host the first ever “Help with Heroin” Symposium in Northwest Ohio.

Open Enrollment Begins: May 2-May 27

It’s your turn
to choose…. And having a choice is easy… Between May 2 – May 27, 2016, Ohio employers will have the opportunity to select a new Managed Care Organization (MCO).  This selection period is called Open Enrollment and we want you to be prepared…. as you will be receiving a lot of information from many MCOs during this time.

The choice of an MCO is entirely yours and always will be.   However, Anthony Wayne Regional Chamber of Commerce has decided to recommend an MCO during this Open Enrollment period. (Health Management Solutions) Why this MCO?? Because we believe that HMS will provide you with a more proactive, quality driven service than you may not be currently experiencing.

We have done an extensive review of this recommendation and endorsing Health Management Solutions (HMS) as a preferred MCO was done because of many reasons, but the key factors include the following:

·         HMS has the top score of all MCOs in the Days Absent Measurement of Disability (MoD) scores.*
·         HMS is licensed state-wide and is the 5th largest MCO, which means they have the infrastructure to serve all your needs, but are still small enough to provide personalized customer service.  (a big plus)
·         HMS provides a single point of contact for all your inquiries – one individual who knows your specific needs and claims history.
·         HMS offers online claims access 24 / 7 for individual claim look-up and other services.

By the way…. Choosing HMS will not affect your BWC rates and there is no fee!
AND….This choice will not affect your group rating status or other TPA affiliation.

Laurie Poston is the Account Executive serving the county area, you may call her at 888-202-3515 x176 or 614-519-3213 if you have any questions about choosing Health Management Solutions as your BWC benefits provider.  Laurie is great to talk with and can help you with any of your questions.  Take it from us, HMS is our preferred MCO!

Heroin Steals the Future – There is Help Campaign

Heroin Steals the Future – There is Help Campaign

The Chamber Partnership Joins Alliance Campaign

Heroin abuse has grown to staggering proportions in NW Ohio and while the general public is made aware of it through the media no one can assess the true impact of the epidemic to the community.

Walker Funeral Homes has seen the destruction of lives from heroin abuse. Keith Walker, President of Walker Funeral Homes launched a health alliance comprised of mental health and government agencies and the media to “Heroin Steals the Future – There is Help.”  Walker states “Our media support has been tremendous but we still need to reach into the community to get a broad based support to carry the message into the workplace and board room. We welcome collaboration with Arrowhead Behavioral Health, Good Grief NW Ohio and with The Chamber Partnership, which will help us take the message into local businesses across Northwest Ohio. Business suffers when addicts miss work and their paycheck is going to support their habit rather than their family.”

Josh Torres, Preident & CEO of The Chamber Partnership states “most of the heroin addicts are people with jobs--some are accountants, lawyers, construction workers, nurses, and secretaries. In other words, they are people who go to work every day.”
According to the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc. (NCADD), of the nearly 15 million Americans who use illegal drugs, 70% are employed. Drug abuse in the workplace effects productivity and increases the likelihood of on the job injuries and absenteeism, according to the Office of National Drug Control Policy. According to NCADD, the highest rates of illicit drug use occur in the restaurant and construction industries.

Torres continues “businesses need to be educated about what can be done for those who may be an addict”. The Chamber Partnership by working together with the alliance can strategize and develop resources for our members and the business community.
