Daryl McNutt Selected for Cherry Fest Grand Marshal
Retired Whitehouse Fire Chief
Daryl McNutt will lead the 35th Whitehouse Cherry Fest Parade presented
by Edward Jones on Saturday, June 10th at 1:00 p.m.
Daryl McNutt joined his first department in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida in July of 1973 and has been active wherever he has lived since. After moving from Florida to his wife’s hometown in northwest Ohio without a fire department, he spearheaded the move to start one and was their first chief. He put lots of hours into getting a building built, obtaining equipment and training for the men. It was quite a personal commitment. That department continues to thrive today. Years later he moved to Whitehouse, Ohio. He began as a volunteer at their fire department and then made his way up to becoming the Fire Chief. Chief McNutt served nine years on the State EMS Board on the EMFTS (Emergency Medical, Fire & Transportation Services) Committee with two of those years being the Chairman.
What is his philosophy? He always wants to help and he will never ask anyone to do a job that he would not do. He doesn’t put himself above others. He is one of them. He just happens to wear the white hat and knows he is the one to make decisions. If they are good he will share the glory and if things go “south”, he will take the blame. He expects the best from everyone as he gives the best. To sum it up, he loves firefighting. It was what he always wanted to do and he has been successful. Congratulations to retired Whitehouse Fire Chief, Daryl McNutt!
Come out and celebrate with us on Saturday, June 10th at 1:00 p.m. at the parade!
