About California School Employees Assn
CSEA
Welcome to the California School Employees Association (CSEA), the largest classified school employee union in the United States, proudly representing nearly 250,000 school support staff across the vibrant state of California. Established in 1927 by a dedicated group of Oakland custodians, CSEA originated with a mission to secure pension benefits for school employees facing retirement challenges. Today, our union stands as a testament to the power of collective action and remains a thriving, member-run organization democratically controlled by volunteers in almost 800 local chapters statewide.
At the heart of CSEA's structure is a commitment to democratic governance. Members play a pivotal role in shaping the direction of our union through active participation at various levels, including the Association's Board of Directors, 10 Areas, 100 Regions, and nearly 800 Chapters throughout California. Additionally, our organization boasts 15 Standing Committees, each with representatives appointed by the Association President, ensuring a diverse and inclusive decision-making process.
Choosing a career with CSEA means embarking on a challenging and rewarding journey. We invite you to explore the current opportunities available to join our dynamic team. Classified employees, recognized as essential workers, make a significant impact on our schools and community colleges daily. Through annual awards, we celebrate their dedication and contribution to fostering a positive educational environment.
