Camp Manitowa to take over management and operations of Camp Cedar Point
(Makanda, Illinois -- February 16, 2017) - Camp Manitowa, a privately-owned retreat center and summer camp near Benton, Illinois, is happy to announce that they have entered into a contract agreement with The Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge and The US Fish and Wildlife Agency to take over management and operations at the historic former Girl Scout Camp Cedar Point, located on Little Grassy Lake in Makanda, Illinois.
Camp Manitowa-Cedar Point is a 250-acre youth camp facility located on the banks of Little Grassy Lake in the heart of the 45,000-acre Crab Orchard Preserve. The camp offers a half dozen climate controlled lodges with housing for 100, dining halls, activity centers and dormitories as well as rustic camping outposts with a variety of cabin and platform tent housing options for an additional 100 people. The facility will undergo a winter facelift and is available for booking this spring.

Camp Manitowa-Cedar Point will open in Spring 2017 making the 85-year-old former Girl Scout Facility available for use to outside groups, like schools, businesses, churches, and a variety of small and large high-quality retreats, for the first time in the camps long history.
