The Event Purpose - From Aur:
A way to show respect and honor through the Native American culture of giving In the 7th year of my dad’s death I am finally being able to show respect and honor through the Native American culture of giving by sacrificing the symbol of my strength; my hair. In my native culture we have long hair and only cut it in times of great emotional upheaval. I have cut my hair only 3 times in my life; once when I was a kid and didn't know any better, when my grandfather died and when my dad suddenly died of cancer. I want to raise a minimum of $25,000 ( 977 an inch ) or 30k to shave for SIH Cancer Institute and Hospice of Southern Illinois. who helped us tremendously through the death process.

My story started when I was 9 months old, my grandfather in Cherokee NC told my dad to walk the Trail of Tears so my parents taking me in a backpack and supplies on a horse started the journey of traveling 14,000 recorded miles by horse through 34 states as I grew up. Growing up learning of people's spirit of generosity and the Native American culture of giving made me join Rotary (whose motto is "Service Above Self") later in life. It always amazes me how seemingly small insignificant actions can through the power of people add up to massive change
