Event Description
A memorial service to celebrate the lives of James and Marianne Mitchell, former Madison residents and members of The Lutheran of Madison, will be held on Saturday, July 13, at the church on 9 Britton Lane. The 11 a.m. service will be followed by a reception in the church fellowship hall.

The Mitchells moved to Madison in 1980 and became active members of the community. They were members of the Madison Country Club and the Winter Club. Jim served as a past Chairman of the Madison Police Commission, as well as Treasurer of Madison’s Concord Meadows Interfaith Residential Community. He also served on the boards of several banks and manufacturing companies. After retirement, he volunteered as an advisor to manufacturing companies in Bulgaria and Slovakia for the Retired Executive Service Corps, assisting companies transitioning from Communist to Capitalistic market economies.

In addition to being a wife, mother, and grandmother, Marianne was a secretary, Sunday school teacher, guitar teacher, Sweet Adeline singer, choir member, and volunteer. After Marianne passed away in June 2022, Jim moved to MA to be closer to his son and family. Jim followed her in death in June 2023.
