Event Description
The Basque family picnic is a cherished tradition that brings together generations of family members to enjoy a day of food, fun, and fellowship. Held at Lion's Park, this annual event is a time-honored celebration of Basque culture and heritage.
Families and friends will gather at Lion's park, where they will set up tables and blankets for a communal feast. Simple chorizo sandwiches, basque beans, basque salads with plenty of deserts will be served for $15 a plate. Wines and spirits will flow freely as everyone catches up on each other's lives and share stories from years past.
Games and relays will be played so you can engage in friendly competitions while onlookers partake in lively conversations and laughter. Live music will fill the air to entertain the crowd with traditional Basque tunes. Basque dancers will perform traditional dances between 6:00 and 6:30.
The Basque family picnic is not just about enjoying good food and company; it's also an opportunity to pass down cultural traditions from one generation to the next. Elders share folklore, language, and customs with younger family members, ensuring that these rich traditions continue to thrive for years to come.
As the festivities, families will reluctantly pack up their belongings but leave with hearts full of joy and memories that will last a lifetime. The Basque family picnic is more than just an annual gathering – it's a celebration of love, unity, and the enduring spirit of the Basque people.
