Mark Tolman is Co-Chair of the Employment Department at Parsons Behle & Latimer. A past recipient of the Utah State Bar’s annual recognitions for Mentor of the Year and Employment Attorney of the Year, Mark focuses his practice on helping his clients avoid employment disputes through advice, policy drafting, investigations, and inhouse training. When disputes cannot be avoided, Mark defends employers in state and federal court, and before the Utah Labor Commission, EEOC, and NLRB. Mark also serves as Director of Legal Affairs for the Utah SHRM Council and as Co-Director of Legal Affairs for Salt Lake SHRM.
The last twelve months has been eventful in the world of employment law! Mark will highlight the most significant employment developments of 2024 and trends from early 2025, including what to expect under a second Trump administration. Among other subjects, his presentation will include key caselaw developments from the United States Supreme Court, other important federal court decisions that are changing the landscape of equal employment opportunity law, regulatory developments arising from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Department of Labor, and National Labor Relations Board, employment legislation enacted in the 2024 Utah Legislative Session (which saw a record number of bills passed) and any new 2025 employment-related laws enacted by the Legislature.
