The luncheon on March 12, 2025, will be held at the Mt. Zion Fletcher Park Recreation Center. We’re thrilled to announce our March speaker, Jim Wilkerson, Director of Marketing for Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate Service First and Vieweg Real Estate Commercial. Jim’s talents extend far beyond his 30 years in marketing and advertising—he’s a creative force with passions for graphic design, video production, photography, poetry, music, and preserving the rich tapestry of Decatur history. We’ve invited him to share his insights on that last passion, with a presentation titled Local Landmarks, Milestones, and Why History Matters to Business.
Jim’s work in local history is impressive and impactful. Through sponsorships from Vieweg Real Estate and Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate, he has produced a series of captivating videos over the years, spotlighting treasures like the Staley Administration Building, the Staley Pumphouse, Hi-Flier Kites, the Mueller Museum, the Governor Oglesby Mansion, the Macon County History Museum, and the iconic Transfer House, among others. His commitment doesn’t stop there—he serves on the board of directors for the Historic Decatur Foundation at the Culver House and, in April, will step into the role of President of the James Millikin Homestead Board of Directors. Join us to explore some of our community’s most fascinating landmarks and discover why local history isn’t just a passion for Jim—it’s a vital part of building a thriving business.
