Event Description
Vincent Van Gogh is among the most famous and influential figures in the history of Western art. From his time in Paris, where the Impressionist movement has revolutionized art, he will embrace vivid color and a new freedom to express himself in portraits, landscapes and still life. In his final years, when he moves from Paris to the south of France, he will battle madness yet create some of his most memorable art. This lecture will explore the variety and intensity of Van Gogh’s paintings, his vivid use of color and dramatic composition combined with the intensity of his spirit and singular vision which have captivated and inspired the world for more than 100 years.
