Established in 2004, MOGA has been a traveling Geocaching event that attracts 500+ households annually for its orienteering style competition and various side activities that take place all in 1 day: April 23, 2022.
MOGA Classic Competition. There are 2 classic competitions, individuals (morning) and teams (afternoon). Each competition consists of 30 checkpoints that are in a forest area. Participants are on foot and armed only with cellphone or GPS unit and a map will try to find as many of the 30 checkpoints and make it back before time runs out. Individuals are awarded based on male/female and age brackets while teams are awarded based on age brackets only.
MOGA Puzzle Competition. Participants (2 person teams) are provided 10 puzzles that focus on various logical and STEM factors for participants to attempt to solve. The team with the most solved in the shortest amount of time wins. Awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.
SnagTheTag. SnagTheTag a side activity available at MOGA where that participant will receive a notification at a preset time that 100 treasure hunt locations have went live. Participants will use SnagTheTag.com website to receive their notifications and map to these treasure hunt locations. At the location they will find a special card that has been placed, they bring this back and redeem it for a souvenir coin.
MOGA Poker Run. Five (5) locations will be preselected to host the poker run stops. At these locations participants will receive a colored bingo chip that they will bring back to MOGA Central to have a hand of poker dealt. Best hand by closing time wins an award medal.
MOGA Geocaches. MOGA is more than competition, it celebrates Geocaching adventure! Annually MOGA places 60+ new Geocaches for attendees to hunt. These Geocaches stay for a minimum of 3 months but typically will be available for several years after the event.
GPS Adventures Maze Exhibit. The GPS Adventures Maze Exhibit (Exhibit) is an extremely rare traveling educational exhibit. Participants will walk through an interactive, informational, exhibit to learn about the history of navigation, various STEM subjects and Geocaching. (Available: April 17 – May 7, 2022)
GeoTours. GeoTours are an official series of geocaches that are designed to bring geocachers to a specific location and give them a "tour" of the area through geocaching. Currently there are only 90 GeoTours in the World, 49 in the US and 0 in Illinois. Because of their limited availability, they are sought out by Geocachers from all over the world. (1 year min)
