MO Chamber Supports SB540

On Wednesday, the Missouri Senate Committee on Transportation, Infrastructure and Public Safety will hear legislation to raise the tax on motor fuel by six cents per gallon over a period of years.  Specifically, the bill would increase the tax by two cents immediately and by an additional four cents over the next two years. Once fully phased in, the rate of tax will be 23.3 cents per gallon. The tax will be adjusted annually for inflation beginning three years after the effective date of the act. The bill is Senate Bill 540, sponsored by Sen. Doug Libla, a Republican from Poplar Bluff.

CCEM Chooses to Not Incorporate with MAKO

During the Annual Meeting at the Fall 2014 Conference the membership was given the following update on the reasoning that CCEM did not incorporate with the MAKO organization. While we think this is a great conference and professional development opportunity the reasons below explain why the CCEM Board chose not to move forward with the incorporation. We hope you all understand the amount of work, time and thought that went into this decision. At this time we have been able to work with the MAKO committee to allow members of CCEM to attend the conference at the member rate.

Once again, the MAKO committee is working to put on a great professional development opportunity. Registration is now open. For information on the sessions, please follow this link: https://sites.google.com/site/makoconference2013/

Leadership in Practice

In June of 2015, we will be holding the 19th annual Leadership In Practice program for the class of 2018. We will again bring together Missouri’s top students between their freshman and sophomore years in high school from across the state for four days of intensive leadership training. These students will then apply those skills in your schools and communities for years to come.

Past Leadership In Practice attendees have pointed to this program as the skill and confidence builder they needed to move forward in their leadership development.  After attending Leadership In Practice they became involved in their schools and served in leadership positions within their high schools, colleges and further go on to serving in leadership positions within their communities.
