About UsAn Organization for Veterans that served during wartime periods. Our organization formed in 2013.
We have an Honor/Color Guard and have the only SAL, Sons of American Legion in the County and Ladies Auxiliary.
Our Post is named after Ryan Larson for the life that he gave for his Country. Ryan was a student at Adams Friendship High School and graduated in 2002. PFC Ryan Larson was in Afghanistan when he was killed in action. He was known in his unit as "Sparkplug".
MISSION STATEMENT. Post 65 is an organization of Officers and Members, dedicated to serving Veterans in need and other Veteran Organizations, with an emphasis on community.
OBJECTIVES. Our objectives are to (1) Support , (2) Encouragement, (3) Companionship, and (4) Awareness.
ACTIVITIES. We hold various fundraising activities to support our causes. Provide military honors for deceased Veterans. We put standing flagpoles at Veterans grave sites and dedicate to the Veterans there. Color Guard Programs at the Middle and Elementary School.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE [June 15, 2018] [Membership Milestone for Local Veteran] Town of Rome Town Hall – June 5th, members of American Legion Ryan Larson Post 65 are proud to recognize post member Bob Benkowski for a major American Legion membership milestone. Post 65 members presented Bob with an American Legion Continuous Membership Certificate commending Bob for 50 continuous years of membership in the Legion. American Legion Headquarters, Indianapolis, IN, issued the certificate in appreciation of Bob’s steadfast service; and Bob’s wife, Mary Ann, joined Bob and Post 65 members for the presentation at the Town of Rome Town Hall.
