On June 1, CNM will welcome Olivia Padilla-Jackson as the new vice president of Finance and Operations. The position was vacated when Tracy Hartzler became president on Jan. 1. Padilla-Jackson is currently serving as the cabinet secretary for the New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration for Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham. She draws on 18 years of public finance and policy experience at the federal, state, and local level.
“This is great news for CNM and our community,” said President Hartzler. “Olivia brings a dynamic breadth of experience serving the public, leading with integrity, and finding creative and inclusive ways to achieve community and state priorities. She also embodies our values and our vision of Changing Lives, Building Community.”
As cabinet secretary for the New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration, she has been responsible for compiling the Executive Budget Recommendation, implementing the operating budgets for all state agencies, public schools and higher education institutions, and providing monitoring and oversight of the operating budget throughout the year.
Prior to joining the State of New Mexico, Ms. Padilla-Jackson spent five years as the Deputy Director of Finance/Budget & Performance for the City of Albuquerque. Some of her responsibilities in this role included managing the City’s $1 billion operating budget; coordinating the City’s strategic planning process; overseeing revenue forecasts and economic analysis; and conducting five-year financial planning.
She previously held positions as Financial Services Director for the City of Rio Rancho; Director and Deputy Director for the New Mexico State Board of Finance; Economist and Budget Analyst for the New Mexico Legislative Finance Committee; and Trader/Analyst for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of New Mexico Anderson School of Management and her Master of Public Policy from the University of Michigan.
