About Peter's Paycheck
Peter's Paycheck
Welcome to Peter's Paycheck, a Nonprofit Ability One organization and a proud affiliate of Source America. We are committed to making a meaningful impact by providing gainful employment opportunities for individuals with special needs. Located at 1021 Carlisle Blvd SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106, Peter's Paycheck operates with a vision of fostering inclusivity in the workforce. Our collaborative efforts extend to partnering with various Small Businesses, including Stride Inc., a Woman-Owned Hub Zone small business with a remarkable history of employing individuals with special needs since 1981.
At the heart of Peter's Paycheck is Peter himself, a neuro-diverse individual who has been actively contributing to the workforce since 1981. Despite being non-verbal and facing challenges in independent mobility, Peter is a math genius and a talented artist. His dedication to his work is evident, and his infectious laughter adds a unique spirit to the team. We honor Peter and his years of integrated employment with Peter's Paycheck, showcasing the positive impact individuals with special needs can make in the workplace.
Peter's Paycheck is on a mission to address the significant unemployment rate of the disabled community, which currently stands at 38%. We operate under State Use law, aiming to support for-profit businesses that engage in integrated employment of adults with disabilities. Federal labor laws allowing subminimum pay based on output are outdated, and our organization is dedicated to challenging these archaic provisions. Our shared goals revolve around encouraging and assisting individuals with disabilities to achieve maximum personal independence through productive employment. By fostering a constant market for services delivered by persons with disabilities, we enhance their dignity and self-support capabilities while minimizing dependence on welfare and entitlements.
Our focus at Peter's Paycheck is to remove barriers that for-profit entities face when considering employing adults with intellectual and developmental delays. These barriers include inaccessible physical environments, lack of assistive tools, negative attitudes within the workplace, and a deficiency in relevant systems, services, and policies. We advocate for full workplace integration, emphasizing fair wages, comprehensive benefits, and patient coaching tailored to individual strengths. Focused workplace adjustments can make all the difference, creating a win-win situation for both employers and employees. Join us in championing inclusivity and diversity in the workplace at Peter's Paycheck!
