Science of Beer 2018

A Marbleous 21+ Event from Explora and Marble Brewery

Have you ever wondered what the difference actually is between ales and lagers? Or why that wheat beer smelled like a banana? Join us as we totally geek out on Albuquerque’s favorite adult beverage at the Science of Beer. Marble Brewmasters will offer discussions about the history and science of this wonderful beverage. Science of Beer will also offer hands-on demos and activities related to brewing. Marble will be offering tastings, and have Marble pints and cans for sale through Explora’s exhibit areas. Two local food trucks, picked to complement the various styles of beer, will have food for sale.

You are encouraged to bring cash to expedite your purchases of food and beverages.

Along with Marble Brewery, we will also have talks and demonstrations from local clubs and organizations such as:

  • Southwest Grape & Grain
  • Dukes of Ale
  • Worthogs

In honor of Black History Month, celebrate the cultural diversity and heroes of New Mexico with an afternoon of live performances, visual art and hands-on art activities for the entire family. Burque Noir produces brilliant multi-media experiences of arts and entertainment as delivered by a vast array of Black artist and performers.  This event will feature singer-songwriter Tawanda Suessbrich-Joaquim from Las Cruses as well as recitalist and vocal coach Leon Eldridge from Albuquerque. Queneesha Myers with Cakes and Sweets Boutique will be providing scrumptious treats to go with the tea.  No need to register, just come to Bachechi for this spectacular event.

Resisting Inequity: Language as Power and Right
 
The theme for this year’s conference is “Resisting Inequity: Language as Power and Right”. Along with internationally renowned keynote and featured speakers, there will also be other special presentations from experts and over 300 concurrent sessions. Participants will also be able to sign up for visits to local schools that are implementing successful bilingual education programs. In addition to the concurrent sessions, there will be a product exhibition. Students, teachers, advocates, and elected officials will be recognized for their efforts to promote the importance of bilingualism and biliteracy.

Pathways to Becoming Small Developer Seminar

This seminar will focus on small scale real estate development and is all about project formation. We take a big picture view of neighborhood-based development to help attendees analyze what makes a good project, how a building makes money, and how small developers interact with the broader ecosystem of professionals in the built environment. By the end of the Workshop, aspiring developers will feel more prepared to take the first steps on their own project.
