Crystal Lake Cafe is a historic Cafe and Trading post in the San Gabriel Mountains within the Angeles National Forest. It is located at the end of Highway 39 and Crystal Lake Road at an altitude of almost 6000 feet. Downtown Los Angeles is a little bit over an hour away by car. The Cafe offers homemade food to its visitors as well as supplies to the nearby Crystal Lake Campground. It also serves as a supply store for hikers on the Pacific Crest Trail which passes by a little bit over 2 miles away.
The Cafe is an ideal destination to get away from all the stress and the crowds of the big city. There is an abundance of trails that offer hikes of all different distances and difficulties.
Crystal Lake, the only spring-fed lake, is within a short walking distance. The lake is stocked with trout, blue gill, and bass, and it is a well-known destination for fishermen. Across the street is the Crystal Lake Campground. It is open year-round with some restrictions in winter. It is operated by the Forest Service.
