Membership Drive

Thursday, May 19 @ 5:30 pm, we have scheduled a dinner at Heritage Park and have invited approximately 100 non-members to attend this dinner.  It is a "no pressure" event togive businesses not acquainted with the Chamber an opportunity to find out what the Chamber is all about.  We will have a short presentation giving a brief description of Chamber functions, activities and benefits.  If you know someone that received an invitation, offer to take them or encourage them to attend.  If you aware of a business that we failed to invite, let us know and we will send them an invitation.

Glitz, Glam & Goodies

Our first Glitz, Glam & Goodies was successful and lots of fun. Zumba was great, but.... Just sayin'!  Everyone seemed to enjoy the event and would like to see this done annually. Leeanne Butler won the patio set donated by Walmart and Carla Coward won the $750 shopping spree from Gibson McDonald.  All vendors had a drawing at their table so lots of goodies were given away on Saturday.  We had fashion shows by Goodie 2 Shoes and Buttons & Zippers, a Pampered Chef demo by Debbie Crews and Zumba by Body & Soul.

Thanks to our sponsors: First Federal Bank of Florida, Gibson McDonald Furniture Store, Mercantile Bank and Walmart DC #6099.  Thanks to all the participating vendors. Thanks to the ladies who presented the demos and fashion shows and  thanks to all  who attended and made the event a success.

Just wait until next year.  Bigger and better!

Creating Your Own Brand

Our second Lunch and Learn for the year was Tuesday, April 12. Dr. Sheri Carder, Florida Gateway College, shared with the group some inexpensive, productive ways to create your own brand of advertising. Elvis tagged along with Dr. Carder to show his own brand!

Dr. Carder shared some tips for advertising:

Postcards - follow with services or purchases with a postcard.  Great inexpensive personal way to keep your relationship with your customer.

Magnets - magnets for the side of your vehicle.

Shirts - with your logo on them.  Be sure a name tag or name embroidered on your shirt is on the right side of your shirt - know why?  When you shake hands the person eyes go automatically to the right side of the you.

Business cards - make sure you have them with you at all times and don't keep them in your wallet!

What sets your business apart from others? Don't use the adage "good business". That doesn't work anymore.  Too many businesses use that one.

2011 Annual Golf Tournament

Yeah!  It's over for this year! It was a beautiful day for golf and was a successful tournament for the Chamber.  A BIG thanks to all our players, sponsors and volunteers.  We had nine corporate sponsors and eighteen hole sponsors, as well as our door prize sponsors and ditty bag sponsors.  We were alittle short from last year, but ended up with 80 players.  The golf pro, Tammy Gainey, at Quails Heights was awesome.  She made the tournament run very smoothly for us.

Winners at this year's tournament were: 1st place team - Mike Dees, Billy Miller, Kelly Crews and Scott Noles; 2nd place team - Jennifer Couch, Marc Fagan, Bobbie Lake and Gary Taylor; longest drive - Bryan Mullis; longest putt - Bob Kain; closest to the pin - Gary Taylor.  Congratulations to all our winners!

Once again, thanks to all who turned out to play or volunteer.
