State of the State Address Governor Ducey

This last week the Benson Chamber and some of it's members went to the State of the State Address with Gov. Doug Ducey. This was Gov Duceys 8th and final State of the State Address, he has a positive attitude and high hopes for the rest of his term. Ducey spoke on many subjects, some to include: water, veterans, border security, and schools. The Benson Chamber was happy to be recognized in helping with this event. In accordance with the Benson/San Pedro Valley Chamber Bylaws, the Nominating Committee is considering candidates for the open Board of Directors positions in 2022.
 
Open Positions are President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary and room for an additional 5 directors.
 

The term for officers is for 2 years. The Board of Directors currently consists of 5 members, who meet once a month for no more than 2 hours. All members of the Board of Directors must attend monthly meetings, Chamber functions and volunteer their time and energy for various Chamber committees. The Board of Directors is expected to serve as positive leaders and demonstrate their proud commitment to the Benson/San Pedro Chamber of Commerce.

Heather Floyd, our current Chamber President, will term out in July. She will be serving as past president for 2yrs to help the new president and the Board.

Our VP Lupe Diaz got promoted to the AZ Legislature. We are excited for his service to the state but that means he will not be an option for succession.

Qualified candidates will be Chamber Members in good standing willing to submit a short BIO and photo to the Nominations Committee, Heather Floyd at heathercfloydaz@gmail.com by close of business on March 18th. 
 
We encourage our members to get involved. The slate of candidates will be issued on April 8th with voting taking place by April 22nd The 2022 Board of Directors will be announced immediately following the election and will start their terms on July 1, 2022. Our first speaker, archaeologist Al Dart from AZhumanities will be coming to the Benson Center on January 22, 2022, from 12-1:30 pm.
Join us in learning about the Native Americans' sophisticated skills in astronomy and predicting the seasons.
This is a FREE event, open to the public.
