Department of Economic Security: Rehabilitation Services Admin.

We had a great April meeting with Mary Boegemann, Region II Program Manager, from Rehabilitation Services Administration a division of DES. She will be shared with us the employment services to job seekers with various disabilities to assist them in getting and keeping jobs. They have been recently certified to provide employers with Disability Awareness & Employment Training to businesses.

Some of the things we learned are:
What is Vocational Rehab (VR)?
It is a program that provides a variety of services to job seekers with disabilities to overcome barriers to employment. The ultimate goal is to prepare for, enter into, or retain competitive and integrated employment. The VR program is public-funded through a Federal/State partnership and administered by the Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) under the State of Arizona Department of Economic Security.

Why would an employer contact VR?

VR can assist you with your Diversity, Equity & Inclusion efforts. VR can assist your business with it's staffing needs. Employees that cannot meet production demands. Employees that had a recent medical condition that has impacted their ability to perform the essential functions of their job. Employees that are having difficulty filling out required paperwork or having difficulties following directions. Employee that has requested reasonable accommodations that may be an undue hardship to en employer.

Our local contact for services is Bibiana Ronquillo, Vocational Counselor/Employment Specialist please contact her at bronquillo@azdes.gov or 520-237-6396 if you or an employee are in need of services.
