Lupe Diaz A Blessed and Prosperous New Year to You and Yours Here is our first newsletter of the yeart Volume 01-13, Issue 01 There are three items of interest after the report on Christmas on Main; a sponsored kick off Chamber mixer, a candidates forum in the making and new about the Benson Billboards coming to 1-10. Christmas On Main Report Our December 8th 2012, "Christmas on Main" community event was a sucess. We had 39 vendors; mostly from the local area. It is amazing to see the talent that is in the community. The day was gorgeous and people were walking the downtown area between the Museum Christmas Event and ours. The businesses on main street put out there goods on tables, racks and shelves. People enjoyed that there were several places to go that day. The school had there basket ball tourneyment and several of the out of town families enjoyed the event. Thanks to all of you that helped this to be a reality through your donation and volunteer help. We appreciated the Christmas spirit, some thing we intend to carry on through this coming year. (see pictures of the event) 2013 Kick off Chamber Mixer At Triangle T Ranch The Chamber is sponsoring a mixer with Triangle T Ranch on Thursday, February 7th starting at 5 pm and will run to about 7 pm. There will be food refreshments and a lot of good company. The restaurant will be open if you would like to order dinner and there will be a cash bar for those of you that would like to order a drink. You received a invitation from Linda Kelly inviting you to their mixer. There will be door prize ($50 value) someone will walk away. This will be worth the time to go there to find out what Triangle T offers and updates to what the chamber is doing next. The mixers are good to host at your business as they will bring members and visitors through your doors. This will create a word of mouth advertising as people see, touch and hear what your business is all about. Those that attend will talk about what they experienced. It is surprising what Benson has to offer and what you the business owners have done with your establishments. If you would like to host a Chamber mixer call the Chamber office City Council Candidates Forum Is Coming Together We are still looking to secure a venue and will know next week where that will be held. We have a moderator lined up and there are a few other things we need in place and when we get them we will let you know. There are four City Council seats open at this time. Those that are running are Toney King and David Lambert for the Mayor seat and Peter Wangness, Lori McGoffin, Nick Maldonado, Brian Crafts and Jeff Cook running for Council seats. This will be a good place to be as the questions are coming in and we are looking at them. Members Whose Renewal Month Is January I Guess You have Heard Little Caesar's is to open soon. They are located on Forth Street in the building in from of Walmart just east of O'Maley's. Benson loves its pizza that is sure. City Economic Development Group The City Of Benson Economic Development Group had its meeting on Monday, Janurary 7th at 5:15 at the City Chambers. This groups is exploring what is needed to help the community's economy thrive. The Benson / San Pedro Valley Chamber of Commerce is a member of this group. Some of the discussion that is on the table at this time is what is affecting the business in the area. Our job is to identify and list the various elements that will help improve our community and address the problem areas. The billboards were one of the items that was discussed. Billboards to bring traffic to Benson The contract is signed and the vinyls are at the shop getting ready for the boards. The billboard target date is by the end of February. They will help bring some of the traffic into the heart of Benson. We now have to think about what we will do to to keep them in town. Benson is a centrally located community to a number of sights in the Southeastern part of Arizona. People who what to see this part of the state can take advantage of our location. Those of you that are in town should prepare to count the numbers once the billboards go up. What Will Bring The Charm To Our Community We would like to encourage each of our members to take the time and look at your businesses and see where you can clean it up, paint it and make it look fresh. If we all started doing this it could bring a little charm to our community. The payoffs to a little bit of effort will be in community pride and care. This kind of attention by our members will be noticed by the community, clients and customers. For those of you that are already thinking along these lines good for you. There are many of you that are making that a priority in your business. Members Whose Renewal Month Is January The Amerind Foundation Inc. Peitsmeyer, Karen Battaglia & Roberts P.C.
