Chamber December 2018 Month in Review

Normally January is a time for the Chamber to take a deep breath, relax a bit before jumping into Spring Jamboree planning, but not this year! 2019 is already shaping up to be a busy year with activities directly related to our mission statement; to promote business and commerce for the Boulder City area through leadership in economic, political and social development. The Chamber is drilling down on this mission to ensure that any event or activity that we are engaged in is intentional and has a direct impact on one of these key elements.

Quickly becoming the second largest event for the Chamber is....

Learn How to Navigate the Digital Landscape in 2019

The Chamber has partnered with Channel 8 Las Vegas for over a year. This marketing partnership has provided several local Boulder City businesses with exposure to the Las Vegas valley market. Having a marketing strategy that reaches beyond the local landscape of the City allows small businesses to access an entirely new audience that reaches beyond Railroad Pass and the Hoover Dam Lodge.

On February 5 at Boulder Creek Golf Club, Channel 8 and the Chamber is hosting an educational seminar that will help you develop a strategy to leverage the digital world going into 2019. If you're struggling to get new business or looking for ways to enhance your local presence, this is worth your hour and a half. From 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. you'll enjoy lunch and you'll get a free Digital Advertising Checklist. If you haven't already, check out some of the businesses that have already taken advantage of this amazing opportunity to be featured on Channel 8 during the Las Vegas Now show which airs weekdays at 4:00 p.m.

Reserve your spot and RSVP to Sandy Ellis at 702-792-8810 or email at SEllis@lasvegasnow.com.

Show Your Boulder City Pride with Hoover Dam License Plates

You've probably seen them around town; a white license plate adorned with a picture of the Hoover Dam. What you probably have noticed too is that these plates don't hold the identifying numbers very well and eventually crack and rub off due to the heat. A couple of years ago, the State of Nevada changed the law and are now requiring all plates to be replaced every 8 years. This is automatic, but if you think your plates need replacement before that, you can snag a replacement plate for $16.50.

If you'd like to replace your plate with a Boulder City/Hoover Dam plate, you can do that too! During your normal registration, just request Hoover Dam and a portion of your registration fee will go to support tourism promotion here in Boulder City. Tourism is a critical part of our community since many of our businesses are considered small business, they don't have the marketing budget to extend their reaches beyond the borders of the City. Tourism promotion helps these small businesses by creating a large scale marketing effort (done by The Chamber) to create marketing opportunities to draw more people into the area. These plates are a way to help with those efforts without being a business owner or part of the Chamber.

The Chamber also runs a Show Us Your Plates campaign where we seek out cars with the Hoover Dam plate. That month's winner will receive a gift certificate to one of our local businesses. So, #showusyourplates!

Dam Short Film Festival Returns Feb 7-10

The Dam Short Film Festival is back! Founded in 2003 by Lee and Anita Lanier, the 2019 season brings short films this year starring Marisa Tomei and Minnie Driver. $10 movie blocks which feature 4-10 movies are available as are 4-day passes which are available for $100 and make an affordable weekend staycation in Boulder City. This year, the Festival will present over 130 short films in various styles and genres. You can still get your business noticed with a sponsorship of the Festival and reach thousands of people during the four day event. Contact Tsvetelina Stefanova at tsvet@damshortfilm.org for more details.
