Lucy and Nellies, where "making your home a beautiful place and a happy home" is their #1 priority. Karen began her profession around 35 years ago naming the company after her grandmothers. Karen's inspiration comes from growing up on the lake and she strives for the relaxed feeling you receive when being on the lake. Not only does Karen design pieces and refurbish furniture she also shops for the perfect piece for your home. Let's give a warm welcome to our newest chamber member!

New Business: Outpost Grille

In November of 2020 Joseph Halhober took over as owner of Outpost Grille in Allen, Michigan.  "We're all like family here. I got tired of working for a corporate (restaurant chain) so I bought this from Bonnie Friend," added Joseph. The Outpost Grille offers many services including their two unique buffets every Friday from 4-8p.m for a seafood bar and Sundays for a brunch menu from 11a.m.-4p.m..  Friday nights from 8-11p.m. there is also a karaoke night. We are excited to welcome Outpost Grille as our newest chamber member!

Scarecrow Decorating Contest

Rules and Registration
A scarecrow is simple to make and will provide a great opportunity for your business, family, or a group to share in its creation. Each one will be individual, and you will be surprised at the personality they take on. Thinking of a name also helps to develop their character. First create a basic design and gather your material together. Clothes, from a local charity shop or from your own wardrobe will be helpful.

Entry is FREE! to participate. Entrants must submit a completed registration form and have a scarecrow on display by the required time. Every scarecrow will be provided a numbered sign which must be picked up at the Coldwater Area Chamber of Commerce office, located at 20 Division St., downtown Coldwater.

In addition to full bragging rights:

1st Place: $200.00 2nd Place: $100.00 3rd Place: $50.00

Scarecrow registration forms will be accepted starting now thru Thursday, Oct. 22nd and can be dropped off at the Chamber office or sent via email to Lori Hunt and Caitlin Sheets at  info@coldwaterchamber.com. Scarecrows should be set up on Oct. 21st and Oct 22 in the southwest corner of the Four Corners Parks or outside your business. The community can vote through the
Coldwater Chamber Facebook page from Oct. 25th to Oct. 30th. Only one vote per person. Only scarecrows registered in time will be in the running.

Winning entries will be announced on Facebook on Oct. 31st. Certificates will be placed on the winning scarecrows and will remain on display until Nov. 3rd. They must be removed by 6 p.m. Nov. 4th.

Scarecrows must be durable and able to stand up to sun, wind, and very likely rain showers. Use care in choosing your materials. All decorations must be firmly attached to your scarecrow and then to the post. We recommend a 2x4 piece of lumber for the central body. A broomstick or 2x4 is recommended for the arms. We reserve the right to remove any entries that do not maintain their ability to be displayed. All entries must be hand-made. No electronics may be used in this old-fashioned scarecrow contest. As part of your display, be sure to make a sign with the name of your business.

The scarecrow contest exhibit is family friendly. Scarecrows should be whimsical, humorous, mischievous, or lovable– Not frightening. Gruesome, bloody, or political entries will be disqualified. Coldwater Chamber reserves the right to disqualify entries they feel to be distasteful or not family friendly.

The scarecrow should be between 4 and 7 feet tall. We recommend securing your post in a 5-gallon bucket with cement or similar substance in the bottom and not secured into the ground. Scarecrows must be secured in a manner that they will not blow away and will not otherwise be a danger or cause injury to persons or property.
