ConsumerAffairs experts ran the numbers, and Buckeye is ranked number 8 in AZ for least distracted driving fatalities.
 
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 6.1 million police-reported crashes in 2014 (the most current available data).
 
- 32,675 people were killed and 2.3 million injured in motor vehicle crashes
- 31% of fatalities were alcohol-related
- 28% were caused by speeding
- 10% of fatalities were caused by distracted driving
 
For families relocating to Buckeye, safety is an important consideration.

EON Free Summer Youth Academy


Students interested in applying need to:
1.       Confirm with your parent/guardian that it is ok for you to participate in this program
2.       Fill out attached application and return no later than May 18th to:

b. Downtown Library – 310 N. 6th St. (Attn: Janene Van Leeuwen) or
c. Email to jvanleeuwen@buckeyeaz.gov
3.       If invited to interview, arrive professionally dressed and ready to interview with a panel of adult leaders in the community 
       for consideration to participate in the program
4.       If selected to participate in the program, plan on attending all 10 days of class
