A MESSAGE FROM BUCKEYE POLICE CHIEF LARRY HALL
Once again tonight, Arizona will be under an 8 PM curfew. We appreciate the adherence you have shown to the curfew since Sunday and your continued voluntary cooperation. Your Buckeye Police Department wants you to know public safety is our top priority. We are monitoring current situations and have not discovered any credible threats to Buckeye, despite many rumors. BPD is not using the curfew as the reason to stop people unless we observe suspicious group activity. We respect the right to peacefully protest and appreciate the public's respect for public safety and the curfew.
The events in Minneapolis surrounding the death of George Floyd, which lead to the current climate, cannot go unnoticed or unaddressed. This is not who we are as a police profession. The actions and tactics seen in the video do not reflect the training or our values of the Buckeye Police Department. Our job is to protect and serve with compassion and care for all. We join in mourning the death of Mr. Floyd and express condolences to his family. The Buckeye Police Department will continue to focus on our core values of A+ SERVICE. The "A" standing for accountability. We are committed to the highest values and ethical standards not only expected but demanded by our community. We are honored to stand by our mission statement, "Serving the community with courage, commitment, and excellence."
