Jerry Ambrose Veterans Council of Mohave County

The Jerry Ambrose Veterans Council (JAVC) of Mohave County, based in Kingman, Arizona, was established in July 2010 by former Marines Jerry Ambrose and Gene Crego. Their vision was to unite various veteran organizations to better serve veterans in need and advocate for veterans' issues. Originally known as the Kingman Veterans Council, the organization held its first meeting at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10386 in Kingman, with approximately 35 veterans from across Mohave County in attendance.

Tragically, Jerry Ambrose passed away just four months after the council's formation. In his honor, the organization was renamed the Jerry Ambrose Veterans Council. Under Gene Crego's leadership, the JAVC joined Unified Arizona Veterans (AZUAV) in January 2011 to enhance communication with other veteran organizations statewide. By February 2014, the JAVC had obtained 501c(3) status from the IRS as a Public Charity.

Today, the JAVC comprises member organizations from all corners of Mohave County and has expanded to include community service organizations and businesses. This collaboration aims to amplify their advocacy efforts on behalf of Mohave County veterans.

One of their most significant initiatives was organizing Mohave County's first Veterans Stand Down event in 2013. The Stand Down provided vital assistance to homeless and at-risk veterans by bringing together various organizations and dedicated volunteers under the JAVC's umbrella.

The JAVC continues to evolve its programs and projects to meet the changing needs of veterans and their communities. The organization is committed to supporting all veterans through its dedicated board officers and member organizations.

Overall, the Jerry Ambrose Veterans Council remains steadfast in its mission to unite diverse stakeholders for a stronger voice advocating for Mohave County's veterans.
