Community Scarecrow Contest

The Lake Almanor Area Chamber has brought back the Scarecrow Contest. The Chamber is asking businesses to join us in celebrations for the fall by participating in the scarecrow contest. The entry fee for the scarecrow contest goes toward prizes for the costume contest, while the judging of the scarecrows takes place online as a fundraiser to support the Chamber and our planning for the Town Plaza

Scarecrows will be judged online by members of the community! Judging closes at 5pm October 31st. The winner will get an award recognizing community participation and spirit, a  photo will be taken and posted to various social media accounts and more.

We have also invited businesses that do not have a main street or storefront location to participate. (Contact Chelssa at Chelssa@lakealmanorarea.com to find out more information)

Entry fees from the competition go to prizes for the Merchants Trick or Treat Costume Contest!

Town Coffee To A Town Plaza

Our first Town Coffee took place on September 25 at the Coffee Station to discuss the potential of a Town Plaza for year round activities in Chester.  We had many excited people come to explore the idea.  From that beginning came a second meetin on October 16 with over 20 people in attendance from the entire Lake Almanor Community. Notes from the October meeting are here.

Future Town Coffees will take place with community leaders on a variety of topics. If you have a topic you would like to hear, or discuss contact the chamber at Chelssa@lakealmanorarea.com

This year we have added a virtual runner option for those not at Lake Almanor on Thanksgiving Day.  All proceeds from the Turkey Trot go to fund our 4th of July Fireworks Show.  The Show costs $20,000, it needs $9,000 more to make next year happen. Tell your family and friends and register here or contact the chamber for more information.

Almanor Basin Community Consortium

Working Together for Success

The Lake Almanor Area Chamber and the Lake Almanor Community Foundation have come together to co-sponsor the Almanor Basin Community Consortium (ABCC). Invitations have gone out to community leaders to participate in an introductory event for the consortium that will eventually encompass semi-annual round table discussions. The goal? Pretty simple. Having knowledge of others needs, issues and projects will enhance the probability of success for all sector's projects and services, serving our community more effectively and efficiently. Leaders participating are from Public Agencies, the Arts, Business & Financial Services, Education, the Environment, Faith Based Community, Health, Hospitality, Housing, Industry, the Media, Public Safety, Recreation, Retail, Service Organizations, the Trades, Utilities and Workforce Development.
