Light Parade on the Lake!

Dear Lake Almanor Area,

We have received a request from a Susan Hebert who is trying to get word out about a light up parade on the lake.

"We would like other boat owners to light up their boats and do a light parade around the peninsula on the night of July 4th.   We feel this would instill a similar holiday spirit for the community to that of the fireworks and enable those in their boats to maintain social distancing while enjoying the lake." ~ Susan Hebert

If you would like more information on this click here to email Susan.

Mineral, CA – Following guidance from the White House, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and state and local public health authorities, Lassen Volcanic National Park is increasing recreational access and services. The National Park Service (NPS) is working servicewide with federal, state, and local public health authorities to closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and using a phased approach to increase access on a park-by-park basis.

Be A Steward of Our Watershed. Learn & Advocate

FRLT and Sierra Institute.

June 25th.  10:30 - 11:30 AM.
Be an advocate for the clean, safe and continued health of our Lake and Watershed.  Take part.

You are invited to learn more about ecology and restoration in the North Fork Feather River region. Join us for a panel discussion with local natural resource professionals that are involved with planning and implementing forest and watershed health projects (including wildfire mitigation) in the greater Almanor Basin. Three presenters will share summaries of their projects, how the work is progressing, and next steps. A question and answer session will follow the presentations.

The State of the Lake was originally conceived as an in-person event that would explore the many ways that local organizations and individuals are working to improve the health of Lake Almanor and larger watershed around it.  For this year, we are transitioning to digital panel discussions.
NOTE: The event is free, but we are asking you to register with an email address due to security concerns with digital platforms.  By registering for this event and getting your invitation by email, you are helping us keep the event secure.  You will not receive spam.  Thank you for understanding.  If you prefer to register by phone, please call 530-284-1022.

A “Hitch” in Town Plaza Project But Not Derailed

Katherine Sansone, Lake Almanor Community Foundation

COVID-19 has put a bit of a “hitch” in The Town Plaza project and, we may be a bit sidetracked but we certainly aren’t derailed!

We entered 2020 by identifying Lake Almanor Basin business and property owners who may want to participate in the project by helping secure the property with a cash donation.  With names, pitch letter and business plan ready to share, we were then asked to sequester, and like all communities in the United States, were shut down “until further notice.”  We agreed that the timing to make “the ask” was inappropriate when we had citizens and businesses in the community that needed immediate assistance. As a small community, volunteers switched their efforts to be available and create strategies such as the gift card campaign, the shopping assistance hosted by the Mountain Volunteer Project, etc. to handle the need in our community.

With that said, The Plaza was only put on the back burner – not forgotten.

4th of July 2020 Business Challenge

Now the Challenge is On!

We have been notified by some of our Chamber Businesses that since the Reverse Parade is not to happen, they intend to "decorate to the hilt".  And, oh dear, they are challenging others to do the same ....kind of personally.

The first challenge appeared on Facebook this past week.  Coldwell Banker Kehr/O'Brien challenged Plumas Bank.  Will they accept?  And now, look at what Bob & Linda Rouland have done at Rouland Insurance!  Who will take on their challenge??
