The Importance of Primary Care

By Chelssa Outland, PIO

Seneca Healthcare District has recently welcomed two new Primary Care Providers to the Almanor Clinic. Shawn McKenzie, CEO of Seneca has been actively recruiting providers for the past 2 years. He has continually reminded the community that he is looking for providers who will be the “right fit” for this community and the culture at Seneca.

Primary Care also known as family medicine is the day-to-day healthcare given by a healthcare provider who specializes in diagnosing, treating and preventing a wide variety of conditions.

The importance of a primary care provider extends beyond his or her ability to cover a variety of issues. Establishing care with a primary care provider affords you consistency and efficiency and offers familiarity, prevention and condition management.

A primary care provider is responsible for screening all major health-related conditions. If you already have a chronic condition, your primary helps manage it and improve your quality of life.

Providers screen for many things, including obesity, high blood pressure and diabetes. They also look at immunization records and help with regular prescription refills. Those refills are more difficult if you don’t have a primary care provider.

Seneca currently has 3 primary care providers accepting new patients.

Call 1-833-227-3743 and talk to us about getting established with one of our providers.

Almanor Fishing Association Report

John Crotty

11/13/23
Lake level continues to rise, currently sitting at 4486.89, ten and a half feet higher than last year on the same date (4476.32). Water temperature started out at 49 ½ degrees yesterday rising to 50 ½ as the day wore on. Clarity has diminished to seven to ten feet.
We are going to have mild, unsettled weather for the next six days with chances of rain from Tuesday through Saturday. Day time highs in the low fifties and overnight lows in the low thirties. We are not expecting snow at lake level, Fredoyner and Morgan Summits could see snow at the passes (time to throw the chains in the trunk).
Hamilton Branch continues to produce quality fish for shore anglers, still not much happening in the coves around the dam. Trollers are picking up a nice grade of fish along the East Shore from the dam to Dorado. Slow trolling plastics and crawlers, pulling Arctic Fox Trolling flies at 1.7-2 mph (Tui Chub pattern) or fast trolling hardware will all catch fish. Fish are scattered throughout the water column, 20-30 feet on the wire, in water from 20-45 feet deep were our top producers.
Canyon Dam will be the only public boat ramp until next spring, the ramp is not a priority during big storm events and may not get cleared for a few days after storms.

Ice Skating Rink Details

The Chester Ice Skating Rink will be opening soon. The Lake Almanor Area Chamber appreciates all the volunteers who came to help out with the set up of the Ice Rink and Community Tree. There is more work to be done, and we will be putting out information on a final work day soon.

If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to the Chester Ice Rink, please do so through the Almanor Foundation here.
