General Description of Duties: Responsible for the quality maintenance of all lawns and grounds and proper upkeep of all buildings/facilities located at the assigned contract as assigned by the Site Supervisor and as outlined in the Scope of Work and the Task and Frequency Chart. This work will be performed in a hands-on fashion. Duties will include landscaping of grounds, repair and maintenance of facilities (minor electrical, plumbing, painting, woodwork and custodial as required) plus other tasks required by the assigned contract. Monitors the operations of lawn and ground maintenance and custodial operations by monitoring and reporting any deficiencies of building maintenance on buildings, camp and picnic grounds, parks, and playground, and makes minor repairs on structures and equipment. Cleans comfort stations, offices workshop areas, campsites, restrooms, showers, tables, and parking lots, and reports problems to the Site Supervisor. Maintains the working condition of restroom fixtures, and drinking fountains; keeps plumbing fixtures in good working order, including removing debris or clogs from drains; remove nests, cobwebs and graffiti; stock toilet paper, soap and towels. Add bacterial/enzyme to vault toilets. Clean and sanitize drinking fountains. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Site Supervisor.

Education and Training: High School Diploma (or equivalent) required. Five years general work experience preferred. Five years general maintenance and/or custodial experience preferred. Knowledge of grounds maintenance equipment and the tools and equipment associated with facilities maintenance preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required. Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English, with internal and external customers of Adelante. Have the ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, supervisors and co-workers.

Other Requirements: Must be pass background/fingerprint investigation and pre-employment drug screening. Must possess a valid NM driver’s license and proof of auto liability insurance. Must have own reliable transportation and agency insurable driving record. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. regularly. Must be able to remain on feet for approximately 90% of the workday. Must be able to operate equipment continuously for several hours at a time. Must be able to climb ladders for cleaning purposes.. Must be skilled in the use and operation of hand/power tools and equipment. Adelante is a drug free workplace.
