Job Description & Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the V.P. of Technical Services, the Senior Food Safety Specialist is responsible for maintaining the food safety programs of the organization.

He or she will execute the FoodSafety and Regulatory Compliance Program for the Company.

She or he is SQF Practitioner for the facility and maintains the certification for the Company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Creates and maintaining all programmatic elements for Food Safety.
Executes the Supplier Approval Process as part of our Food Safety Program.
LeadS HACCP and Food Safety teams.
Reviews and modifies Company documents, such as product promotional materials, labeling, batch records, specification sheets, and test methods to ensure compliance with all applicable food safety regulations, certifications and Company procedures.
Oversees the Company Microbiological Program and the Environmental Program, as part of our Food Safety Program.
Institutes and maintains finished products manufacturing procedures and specifications from a food safety and regulatory perspective.
Institutes and maintains packaging specifications form a food safety and regulatory perspective.
Institutes and maintains ingredient specifications from a food safety and regulatory perspective.
Directs and conducts investigations, including data collection, for food safety and regulatory compliance purposes as needed.
Interfaces as primary point-of-contact with regulators, auditors, food processing authority and suppliers on food safety and security projects.
Maintains the specifications of the Microbiological Program in accordance with best practices and data analysis.
Maintains Sanitation SOP’s and guidance documents.
Audits the execution of the Sanitation SOP’s in accordance with our Food Safety Program.
Interacts with Engineering on sanitary design and risk assessment for all processing equipment and processing facilities.
Conducts food safety and other compliance audits throughout the operations as part of the Food Safety and Regulatory Compliance Program.
Audits all FSP programmatic elements (including specifications and procedures) a least annually to ensure we are in compliance with all food safety regulatory policies and certifying body requirements. Documents, executes and communicates any changes appropriately.
EDUCATION:

Bachelor of Science, Food Science or Engineering degree with particular emphasis in Biology, Microbiology, or Food Science area.
Master’s level degree preferred
SQF certification preferred.
REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of three years in a food facility.
Experience in evaluating microbiological plating results.
Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
Maintain confidentiality at all times – both within and outside of the office environment.
Lift up to 50 pounds.
Job Status: Full-time

Compensation: $70,000.00 per year

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
