Job Description & Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the V. P. of Technical Services, the Food Safety Specialist is responsible for maintaining the food safety program of the organization.

He or she has evaluated microbiological plating results.

She or he has experience composing, editing and proofing letters, memos, materials and reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Involved in executing the Food Safety and Regulatory Programs for the Company.
Participates in maintaining annual SQF certification for the Company.
Participates in the Supplier Approval Process as part of our Food Safety Program.
Participates in HACCP and Food Safety related certification programs in which the Company participates.
Participates in assembling the Environmental Monitoring Program in accordance with best practices and data analysis.
Involved in creating and maintaining food safety plans for products in accordance with the New Product Development (NPD) calendar requirements.
Integrates published ideas which improve our Food Safety Program, in accordance with best practices in the industry and in compliance with the food safety certification programs the Company participates in,
Involved in out-of-spec microbiological tests.
Collects samples for 3rd party laboratory testing and interfaces with those testing facilities.
Performs lab and microbiological testing on food products and environment.
Researches and prepares cost comparisons.
Special projects.
Interacts with food safety consultants.
EDUCATION:

Bachelor of Science, Food Science or Engineering degree with particular emphasis in Biology, Microbiology, or Food Science area.
SQF certification preferred.
REQUIREMENTS:

Three years in food facility preferred.
Ability to work with a multi-member team.
Ability to analyze and handle complex problems and detect and trace errors.
Ability to prioritize.
Maintain confidentiality at all times – both within and outside of the office environment.
Lift up to 50 pounds.
Job Status: Full-time

Compensation: $65,000.00 per year

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
