SUMMARY

Manufacturing Engineering Technician II for the Albuquerque Sterilization facility, position represents an Associate who is at an Entry or Intermediate level of knowledge in the area of irradiator maintenance. Provides a higher level of support to the Manufacturing Engineering Technician I in the area of equipment and process support (including machine maintenance) to Albuquerque Sterilization equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

To perform preventive and corrective maintenance on the sterilizer equipment and material handling systems associated with the sterilizer and complete sterilization projects as required for support of manufacturing processes.
Will be called upon to work as a mechanic or irradiator operator as business needs dictate.
Does work assigned with minimal direction or close supervision.
Applies strong understanding of irradiator operations and sterilization sciences.
Works to improve the processes and/or system elements involved in job description.
Uses advance methods or skills to accomplish job tasks.
Works well with and enhances cross functional activities at site.
Identifies root causes to problems.
Applies knowledge of PLC’s, welding, machine shop operation (CNC), troubleshooting controls system, hydraulics and pneumatics.
Reads electrical and mechanical drawings and applies understanding of PLC programming and control systems.
Strong mechanical skills required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Associate’s degree preferred; or minimum of two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Full Certification as an Irradiator Operator or able to obtain Certification required.
Strong mechanical skills required.
Strong understanding of of PLC’s, welding, machine shop operation (CNC), troubleshooting controls system, hydraulics and pneumatics.
LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
