Position Summary:

The Director of X Studio takes a lead role in the development, delivery, coordination, and evaluation of a diverse array of STEAM education and workforce initiatives, especially around teen programming in X Studio. X Studio takes an inclusive, holistic approach to STEAM learning in order to improve educational and economic opportunities for youth in our community, particularly low-income teens and teens of color. X Studio offers a diverse set of activities that bring young adults and partner organizations together, including work experiences both onsite at Explora and at external placements with partner organizations, STEAM learning experiences in X Studio, interactions with mentors and leaders in the field, and skill support (i.e., financial literacy, mental health, scholarship sessions, etc.). The Director of X Studio also will ensure that activities reflect Explora’s pedagogy and design principles, including inquiry learning and real-world connections, and are co-created to bring teens and their dreams together with cutting-edge tools, technologies, and mentors to expand ideas about STEAM career pathways, ensure that creative social, relevant learning experiences that compel teens to go deeper and develop critical skills, and that X Studio is a safe, culturally-reflective space that celebrates teens’ diverse skill-sets, cultural identities, and lived experiences.

The Director of X Studio will work with the Director of Education and Visitor Experience to set and manage the budget of X Studio, write program contracts, and track and report program results. Develop and nurture relationships with a broad network of partners, including youth development, industry, and education. Will manage both small and large- scale projects with community partners in order to work systemically to affect change. Will work with the development team to write proposals and secure grant funding for X Studio. May be assigned other responsibilities as needed by the Director of Education and Visitor Experience, Deputy Director, or Executive Director.
