PURPOSE:

Under the direction of the Chief Impact Officer, the Director of Community Investment manages the operational aspects of the Community Investment grants process and works closely with the Development and Impact Teams to seek out and apply for new sources of grant funding to support United Way of Central New Mexico’s (UWCNM) Impact Agenda. The Director of Community Investment is responsible for managing UWCNM’s efforts to create collective impact and support an informed change movement and to advance the Impact agenda. As a member of the UWCNM Impact leadership team, this staff member provides leadership to monitor organization ends, education and consults with the leadership team on progress of aligned and collective grantmaking results and provides strategic input into community investments and collaborations. The Director works collaboratively with leadership team members in product development to secure needed funding for approved products and investments.

The Director of Community Investment provides critical support through community engagement and relationship management, resource mobilization, community impact evaluation and results, grant writing, and management of community investments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Coordination and Management of Grants Process
• Ensure effective and punctual implementation of the UWCNM Community Impact Grants process and calendar.
• Develop clear project plans and timelines, communicate with relevant parties, and monitor progress to meet agreed deadlines.
• Perform multi-stakeholder project management related to UWCNM grantmaking; build, communicate, and execute the timeline of activities and deliverables throughout the year which produce an efficient and transparent grant allocation process.
• Work in collaboration with the Community Impact Grants Administrator to support the day-to-day functions and operations of the grant process.
• Assist with grant application development, evaluation, and reporting.
• Work with staff and volunteers to facilitate and improve the processes by which applications are evaluated, grants are allocated, and progress is evaluated.
• Develop and conduct training for grant applicants and volunteers.

Grant Writing and Proposal and Product Development
• Support the Development and Impact teams in seeking out and applying for new sources of grant funding to support the Impact Agenda (i.e., Rising Together, formerly known as Mission: Graduate and Mission: Families).
• In partnership with leadership, develop a long-term strategy and plan to increase UWCNM’s capacity to secure public, foundation, corporate, and other forms of private sector support for Rising Together (formerly known as Mission: Graduate and Mission: Families). Provide support in product development to secure needed funding for approved products and investments.

Community Engagement and Relationship Management
• Provide support, as needed, for the Community Investment Council and other UWCNM volunteer committees that are involved in the grants process.
• Serve as a resource for all Community Investment Grants volunteers, applicants, and funded agencies.
• Assist with site visits as needed.
• Recruit and train volunteers.
• Contribute to the development of marketing materials, website, and communications related to Community Investment grantmaking.
• Contribute to the annual survey of all grant panel members and applicant agencies.
• Work collaboratively to maintain relationships with the Community Engagement Manager.

Internal Collaboration
• Attend Rising Together (formerly known as Mission: Graduate and Mission: Families) events and meetings, as needed, and serve as a resource to project and program management staff across the two initiatives.
• Support Finance and Marketing staff in the distribution and reporting of Community Investment Grants.
• Work with the Community Investment Grants and Data Manager to maintain the grant database.
• Provide support to the Development department by speaking with community and business groups about UWCNM Community Investment grantmaking.
• Develop reports related to grant investment goals, programs, issues, clients served, etc. for publication, trainings, fundraising campaigns, and as requested.
• Work with other UWCNM staff to develop agency capacity building trainings.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., nonprofit management, grants management, public administration, business).
• Three or more years of experience in a related field (e.g., nonprofit management, grants management, public administration, business) and a record of success in supporting volunteer engagement, including recruitment and meeting facilitation.
• Demonstrated ability to research issues, prepare proposals and request for proposals, and conduct grant management activities.
• Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products.
• Job involves frequent and routinely intense public contact and concentration, including occasional early morning, evening and weekend meetings and other events.
• Must have access to a reliable form of transportation to attend offsite meetings, as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• A demonstrated record of success in writing and securing grants from a variety of sources.
• Knowledge of continuous quality improvement processes and methodology and experience with program evaluation and/or outcome measurement.

EQUIPMENT USED:
Standard PC based office equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Standard office environment, position is primarily an office setting. Physical demands include sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time: bending, lifting, regularly moving between offices, traveling to outside meetings, regular use of telephone, copier, fax, and computer.

STARTING SALARY: $70,000-80,000, 35 hrs/wk (FTE). Full-time employees are eligible for health, dental, life and long-term disability insurance, a retirement plan, flexible spending account and voluntary insurance programs. We offer a tuition reimbursement plan, volunteer time off, and generous leave time. Part-time employees may be eligible for some of these benefits.
