Green Carbon Nexus

Green Carbon Nexus (GCN) has a rich legacy that began over four decades ago amidst the 1979 energy crisis. This pivotal event marked the end of cheap farm energy, leading to the closure of my Irrigation Products business. Embracing the challenges of the time, I founded Energy Production (EP) as a consulting firm and partnered with Sandi's Secretarial Service in Chico, CA, to provide administrative support. Together, we formed Energy Production LP in 1982. Our journey took a significant turn when George Hrubi invited us to collaborate on developing his 40-acre eucalyptus tree farm, envisioning the future of biomass as a renewable energy source. Under Energy Resource Development (ERD), George established a seedling nursery, laying the foundation for our enduring commitment to biomass and renewable energy. This journey is chronicled in the CAL BIOMASS ATLAS (CBA), which highlights businesses, biomass processing systems, and ongoing projects.

In 2004, Green Capital Network (GCN) was established in Fresno as an LLC focused on diversified agricultural biomass project development. Founded by Milt Pace, an Ag Engineer from UC Davis, GCN thrived with six partners until its dissolution in 2012. Determined to continue this legacy, I rebranded and incorporated the company as Green Carbon Nexus in 2014, relocating to Chico and maintaining a part-time office in Colusa. Today, GCN has shifted its focus from large-scale project development to pioneering innovative, small-scale climate change mitigation solutions. We prioritize educating the community on carbon sequestration and the benefits of improved soil health, advocating for grassroots initiatives that deliver tangible, real-world results. Our mission is to drive sustainable practices and foster a deeper understanding of the vital role of biomass in combating climate change.
