Did you know research by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that home modifications and repairs may prevent up to 50% of home accidents among seniors, including falls that take place in older homes?  Nearly 90% of older adults want to age-in-place and maintain independence in their homes according to AARP.  Shana Lebanowski, Injury Prevention Coordinator will provide a  home safety check list to reduce your risk of injury and provide a discussion on common injuries due to falls that might cause traumatic brain injury, concussions and hip fractures.  The Western Lakes Fire Department will provide tips on aging in place and keeping your home safe and comfortable through simple modifications to avoid fire hazards.
