Tierra Blanca Comin' Up

Our annual Tierra Blanca Classic golf tournament will begin on June 27th and will last until June 29th. This is probably the premier golf tournament in the Panhandle and it really brings in a lot of out-of-towners to stay a few days with us. The three day event kicks off with the Rio Blanco Shootout at 2:30 on Friday the 27th. The tournament play begins on Saturday morning and continues Saturday afternoon. Saturday night there is a player introduction at the Country Club begining at 7:00 PM. On Sunday the tournament rounds continue and we have a full day scheduled. The Hereford Cattle Women have lunch available on Saturday. The City has worked very hard to get the course in shape for this premier event and we want to extend our sincere thanks for their hard work. Everything that takes place, all the planning, the production, and the presentation of this event is to promote Hereford and this great community. We have numerous sponsors and entrants. Without these sponsors, it would not be possible to produce such a fine event. In next months newsletter we will feature a "Mighty Thank You" to all who make this tournament such a success each year. If you have the opportunity, we invite you to drop by the John Pitman Municipal Course and see for yourself what a wonderful event this is. That is, if you can find a parking place!

City Wide Garage Sale Scheduled

The annual City Wide Garage Sale is scheduled for July the 12th this year. We want to invite all residents who would like to participate, as well as any business who would like to participate, to call the Chamber and find out just how easy it is to get signed up. The sale permit is $10 and goes to help pay for the advertising. We may have a new twist this year and allow the opportunity to win some Hereford Bucks. Be watching the newspaper and listening to the radio stations to find out just how you might be a winner. Meanwhile, be getting out your old clothes and "stuff" and get prepared to have a great time on Saturday, July 12th for City Wide Garage Sale.

Spicer Gripp Roping Ready to Go

This not just the annual Spicer Gripp Roping! It's the 20th Anniversary for the event. Can you believe it? For 20 years these fine folks have been producing the best roping in the Panhandle. They're ready to do it again and celebrate 20 years of success. The roping begins on Wednesday, July 30th with the Cargill Meat Solutions Gripp Foundation Kick Off Reception and Dinner. On Thursday, July 31st will be the QDG & Panhandle Express Senior Steer Roping. On Friday, August 1st will be the BJM Invitational Steer Roping, Beef Capital of the World Golf Scramble, Coolhorse All Girl Team Roping, and a dance featuring Jake Hooker & the Outsiders. Saturday and Sunday are both full of premier events for the roping. There are several ways to get involved. You can be a sponsor, you can buy a ticket and attend, you can enter the gof tournament, you can purchase a ticket for the trailer drawing, or you can invite a friend to come and see just what a fantastic event this is for Hereford. We could probably list 50 names of people who could help you with information on how to get involved, but, if you want to know anything about the roping or the schedule of events, you may call Ann Ames at 364-7470 or Carla Purcella at 364-5332. They  can "steer" you in the right direction. CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE INVOLVED IN THE SPICER GRIPP MEMORIAL YOUTH FOUNDATION ON YOUR 20TH ANNIVERSARY!!! THANKS FOR HELPING HEREFORD GROW. YOU'RE DOIN' IT RIGHT!
