Grizzly Ranch Golf Club is ranked the #1 public course in all the Sierra Nevada by Golf Digest (2014), along with earning the #11 spot among all public courses in California. But if you don’t remember the rankings, you’re certain to remember this fair, but challenging course, offering everything a mountain course should be…majestic views, impeccable conditions and a comfort all its own.
Located in Northeastern California just 45 minutes North of Reno, NV and Truckee, CA, Grizzly Ranch Golf Club sits among the most unusual combination of towering Ponderosa pines and high-desert sage.
Established in 2005, the Bob Cupp-designed championship course plays to Par 72 and can stretch out to more than 7400 yards with five sets of tees to accommodate every level of player. As the corner stone of the Grizzly Ranch Development, the golf club offers both private club memberships and public- accessible tee times.
Our all-grass practice facility range extends 300-plus yards, there is a huge practice putting green and a chipping green for pitching and bunker shots. The Food and Beverage service is located in the Lake House adjacent to the 18th green.
From the porch you can listen to the waterfall under the covered bridge or watch the sun set down behind the 18th tee…either way, you’re not going to want to leave. Our season-long ‘Stay and Play’ packages include onsite lodging Wolf Tree Cabins.
These are far from your average ‘cabins’ as they are luxury deluxe. With just two 2-bedroom cabins and one 3-bedroom cabin they are likely to be spoken for quickly. When it’s all said and done—this is a very special place that you’ll will want to return to year after year.

In 1850, miners made their first foray into Plumas County, drawn by rumors of a lake of gold. Then pioneer James Beckwourth discovered an easier pass through the Sierra Nevada, and nothing could stop the wagon trains. The remains of Beckwourth’s trading post are just a stone’s throw from Grizzly Ranch. Be sure to stop by when you visit.
By the 1880's railroad companies, spurred by the timber industry, began forging links throughout the region and across the West. A logging railroad bed still remains at Grizzly Ranch. It will become part of our hiking trail system.
