About Us
Beckwourth Cabin is one of the earliest buildings related to African American history in California, and also the last remaining building in this State that was built by the early mountain men.
This authentic 1850's log cabin trading post and "hotel ," is the home of the Jim Beckwourth Museum. The "V" notch log cabin is indicative of the area where Beckwourth grew up. Oral history has it that the hand-hewn log building was built by him. It was relocated from its original site nearby in 1985.
