2013 Lifestyle Challenge The holidays are over so it’s a great time to think about getting healthy! The 2013 Lifestyle Challenge aims to help you improve your health and wellness through weight loss and exercise. Sponsored by Avera Holy Family Hospital and the Regional Wellness Center, the challenge is a 12-week program from January 11 to March 29, and participants are able to weigh in weekly at the RWC. We still have raffle tickets for sale fo the 32GB iPad4 with wi-fi and a $200 acessories bundle and 1-on-1 lesson. This is over $900 in value! The tickets are $5 each, 3 for $10, 5 for $15 or 7 for $20. Come see us at the Chamber to get yours today! Chamber member benefit of the month Chamber members are able to have their business cards and brochures on display at the Chamber office. If you'd like to take advantage of this member benefit, please drop off your items! We are also happy to include your business brochure, flyer, promotional items or coupons in the welcome bags we provide to new utility customers in Estherville. Thanks to all the businesses who provide items for these bags - it's an easy way to get your business name out to new Estherville residents. Check your membership directory listing We encourage all members to look at their listing on the membership directory - do you want to add a photo or logo? Are you happy with your category? Click HERE for the membership directory - there are several search options, and when you click on "view all" the businesses are listed randomly, but you can also click for them to be listed alphabetically. If you have any suggestions or concerns please let us know. Clown Huggers needed The Clown Huggers are recruiting! They need people to join them once a month to provide some cheer for residents of Rosewood Manor and Good Samaritan Society. On the third Friday of each month, the Clown Huggers spend an hour at either nursing home and they need more huggers. Tickets are $20 each and you can buy them online HERE. We've received a number of great donations so far and please keep them coming - we need them by the end of this week so we can get the program finalized. We're happy to pick them up so just let us know. We are so thankful our member businesses continue to support this great event through sponsorship, auction items and your attendance! Welcome to our newest Chamber member Employment Connections, Inc Deb Lenz Website Based in Spirit Lake, Employment Connections is a full service staffing agency providing quality workers to area businesses in northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota. Farm and Home Show Registrations have been sent out for the 2013 Farm and Home Show, so if you were a vendor last year and didn't get a letter yet please give us a call! If you are interested in a booth and want to be put on a waiting list please contact us. The Farm and Home Show will be held on March 1-2 at the Regional Wellness Center. The early bird registration deadline is February 1! We are also looking for a food vendor - if you are interested in being our sole food provider please get in touch! Big year for Estherville Bucks You may have seen or read about the big 2012 our Estherville Bucks program had. We sold over $26,000 worth of Estherville Bucks last year, more than double what we sold in 2011. We're pleased that so much money will be injected back into the Estherville area economy, so we hope your business is seeing the bucks come through your doors! If you have any questions about the program please give us a call. We are planning to issue stickers to all participating businesses soon to help build awareness of them. Thanks to all of you who bought Estherville Bucks for your staff or friends and family during the holidays - we sold $20,000 worth of bucks in November and December. We're so happy all this money is staying local! Welcome to our new board members We are happy to welcome three new board members to the Chamber: Bob Grems, Regional Wellness Center Director; ELC Superintendent Tara Paul; and Scott Stokes, Executive Dean for the Estherville campus of ILCC. The trio will replace exiting board members Ron Menendez of Bank Plus, Sara Mix of Northwest Bank and Gene Haukoos of Estherville Ambulance. The three new board members join Crystal Pluth, Citizens Community Credit Union; Chris Fuhrman, Pelzer Law Firm; Laurel Hash, Employees Credit Union; Darin Olson, Pizza Hut; Tina Reichart, Simply Unique and Ron Leffel, Estherville Printing. In 2013, Pluth will serve as Chairperson, and Fuhrman as Vice-Chair. We thank all our board members for their commitment to the Chamber!
