Summer Opportunities Offered 

Highland Music School will be offering a Musical Theater Camp on July 15 - 19 from 9:00am - noon.  Youth ages 8 - 14 will be able to learn: vocal technique, stage dance, monologues, and how to audition.  Make sure you register before the deadline on June 15th, by using this registration form.

Now is also the time to get your private lessons scheduled.  They are currently accepting new students until their schedules are full.  Please call 618-791-3992 to arrange for your lessons today!

Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser May 23rd

When Scott Credit Union established their Community Foundation, it was to expand the reach and their ability, using their existing involvement, to give back to the communities they serve.

The SCU Community Foundation was established with two primary focuses: the annual golf tournament fundraiser that benefits the community and to establish a scholorship program for the local high schools.  One hundred percent of the proceeds raised by the Foundation are donated back into our communities.

Ryan Goodwin Joins Scott Credit Union as Vice President of Commerical Lending


Ryan Goodwin recently joined Scott Credit Union as Vice President of Commercial Lending, bringing many years of commercial banking experience to SCU. 
 
Goodwin will focus on meeting the needs of real estate investors as well as established businesses. He will work on growing SCU’s commercial real estate loans and lines of credit.
 
Prior to joining Scott Credit Union, Goodwin was the Community Bank President of a local community bank.  Goodwin has experience in retail, consumer and commercial lending, as well as treasury management.
 
Goodwin holds a B.A. Degree from Marshall University. He is also active in the community.  
Goodwin is on the board of directors for the Highland Home Retirement community, active in the Highland Optimist Club and Highland Lion’s Club. He is currently race chair for the Highland Lions Club Biathlon.

Highland Lions Club

The 40th Earl Steiner Memorial Highland Biathlon

The biathlon and other events take place on Saturday, May 25th, 2019 (Memorial Weekend).  All events begin at 8:00 am, except for the 2K fun run/walk, which begins at 8:10 am.  

The main event is the biathlon, which consists of a 5 mile run followed by a 20 mile bike ride.  You can participate in this event as an individual or as a 2-person team, with one person running and the other biking.  There is also a 5 mile run and a 2K fun run/walk.

You can register online, by mailing in a form, or the day of the race beginning at 6:30a.  To register online or print a form, check out our registration page.

For over three decades, the Highland Lions Club has hosted a Biathlon and 5-Mile run. Proceeds from this year’s biathlon will be used to provide financial assistance to those in need of eyeglasses and hearing aids, screenings for diabetic retinopathy, camping for youth and adults who are visually / hearing impaired, and other projects to support the citizens of the greater Highland community.

HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospitals in Breese and Highland and HSHS Holy Family in Greenville are hosting open interview days for registered nurses (RN) and certified nurse assistants (CNA). Experienced RNs and CNAs may be eligible for a sign-on bonus (subject to eligibility requirements).

Bradford National Bank to Host Spring Secure Shredding Day

Bradford National Bank, located at 1100 Mercantile Drive in Highland, will be hosting a free Secure Shredding and Recycling Day in Greenville on Saturday, May 11, from 9-11 am. 
This service is being provided as a free service by Bradford National Bank.  Items will be collected and secured under lock and key locally and then transported to the recycling center.

The truck and secured bins will be located in the Bradford National Bank parking lot.
Many items can be recycled, however, Bradford National Bank recommends the secure destruction of financial documents such as cancelled checks, bank statements, tax files, old bills and investment statements.

Legendary Star Erik Estrada To Appear at Greenville Graffiti Car Show 

The Greenville Graffiti Car Show, sponsored by the Greenville Chamber of Commerce, is excited to announce that legendary actor Erik Estrada will be the celebrity guest.  The car show will be held on Saturday, June 15 in downtown Greenville.

Estrada will sign autographs and pose for pictures between 10am and 2pm on the courthouse lawn at no charge, which is a significant change from past years.
