If you are age 10 - 18 you can get in on this fun. You do need to register to to take part in the tourney and meet the requirements to prove your age. There are limited spaces available, so register early! The streets of downtown Highland will once again become a temporary art gallery as artists transform the pavement into colorful works of art. Sponsored by Staunton Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Hard Road Theatre Productions is proud to present their 2019 summer production of MAMMA MIA! Performance dates for MAMMA MIA! are July 26, 27, Aug. 2, and 3 at 7:30 p.m. and July 28 and Aug. 4 at 2:00 p.m. The show is being performed at the Highland Middle School, 2813 State Route 160, Highland, IL. Ticket prices are $12 for adults and $11 for senior citizens and children (ages 4-12). Physical tickets can be purchased at the Highland Chamber of Commerce (please call before stopping by - 654-3721) or at the door. In addition, tickets are available for sale online via the Hard Road website (hardroad.org). Seating is limited for this production, so it is recommended that tickets be purchased in advance. HSHS News HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Highland Sponsors Cooling/First Aid Station at the 2019 Madison County Fair (HIGHLAND, IL) – HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Highland has partnered with the Madison County Fair to provide a cooling/first aid station at this year’s event. Also in the station, fair attendees can receive a free “Personal Health Snapshot.” The HSHS St. Joseph’s Foundation and Rural King will be sponsoring the distribution of free farm safety guides for kids, and medication disposal kits will also be available. St. Joseph’s Hospital will have trained health professionals on site at the fairgrounds Tuesday, July 23 through Saturday, July 27 from 3 to 7 p.m. Personnel will be available to treat minor injuries, overheating and other medical issues. The station will be located in the HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Pavilion located between the Exhibition Hall and the Food and Beverage Pavilion. Highland Emergency Medical Services will also be on standby if needed. Charlie Meier to Host 8th Annual Evening on the Meier Farm The event will be held on Friday, July 26^th, 2019, from 5:00 – 8:00pm. This event is free and open to everyone. Madison Co Education News Give 30 Give 30 was founded by the Madison County Regional Office of Education. Give 30 continues to see an increase in success as it heads into its fourth year. In the past school year, we went from 25 to 70 active mentors by partnering with local organizations. We would like to continue this success by soliciting civic leaders to identify/encourage interested individuals to become a Give 30 mentor. Give 30 mentors give thirty minutes once a week to visit their mentee during school hours. The students in the program need a positive adult figure in their lives to encourage them. We have found when students have a mentor, they are more likely to attend school and do the right thing inside and outside of school. The local schools currently involved are Highland Middle School, Highland High School, Collinsville Middle School, Collinsville High School, Roxana Junior High, Roxana High School, CEO Alternative School (Troy), Edwardsville High School, Edwardsville High School South, Lewis and Clark Junior High (Wood River-Hartford), Coolidge Junior High (Granite), and Granite City High School.
