HSHS Home Care and Hospice Southern Illinois is celebrating November 2019 as National Home Care and Hospice Month. During the month of November, the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) celebrates National Home Care Month, National Hospice Month and Home Care Aide Week. During this month, HSHS Home Care and Hospice Southern Illinois is celebrating the home care and hospice community, and honoring the millions of nurses, home care aides, therapists and social workers who make a remarkable difference for the patients and families they serve. HSHS Southern Illinois Hospitals to Host Giving Tree Breakfast Events
HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese, HSHS Holy Family Hospital in Greenville and HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Highland are each hosting a Giving Tree Breakfast.
The events will feature a free breakfast buffet open to colleagues and community members. At each event, there will be a Giving Tree full of tags with items needed to fill local food pantries for the holidays. Participation in the Giving Tree is optional and not required to enjoy breakfast.
St. Joseph’s Hospital Giving Tree Breakfast will be held December 4 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the hospital’s Friends Cafe. The items collected from St. Joseph’s Highland will be donated to the Highland Area Christian Services Ministry (HACSM). Purchased items can be dropped off at the hospital or brought directly to HACSM.
HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Highland Diabetes Education Program Merits ADA Recognition
(HIGHLAND, IL) – The diabetes self-management education program at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Highland has been awarded Recognition from the American Diabetes Association (ADA). This newly offered program provides high-quality educational services to the patients it serves.
The ADA Education Recognition effort is a voluntary process which assures that approved education programs have met the National Standards of Diabetes Self-Management Education Programs. Programs that achieved Recognition status have a staff of knowledgeable health professionals who can provide state-of-the-art information about diabetes management for participants.
