Progressive Income Tax

Illinois voters resoundingly rejected the attempts to alter the Illinois Constitution and impose a progressive income tax on Illinois taxpayers and businesses by a vote 55-44%. Don't just take our word for it, the Effingham Daily News reported the following:
"Opposition, led in large part by the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, has centered on what the tax would do to businesses and what lawmakers might do in the future if voters give them the opportunity to levy taxes on portions of the electorate at any one time, rather than on every taxpayer at once."    Full Article Here

Shop Highland Program

Our local businesses offer that personalized shopping experience that you can't find everywhere.  So this year, Shop Highland has taken on a different aspect.  Shoppers will get a passport, need to get it stamped as they travel around town to the participating businesses, and will have a month to complete it.
Below you will find a link to program detailing the program.  As a business, you have 2 options.  Either a Participating Business, where you will have shoppers visit you and if able we would appreciate a donation for the final drawing.  This would require you to let us know of your decision as soon as possible.  Your second option is  Non-Participating Business.  This would allow any business to donate a prize, take part in the shopping, and help those participating by sharing, posting, etc. to their social media pages.
Please download the information in either pdf or jpg form to see complete details.
