Tips for a Safe Halloween
HIGHLAND— Halloween is an exciting time of year for children, as they dress up in creative costumes, carve up pumpkins and gather lots of sweets. But while it can be an enjoyable experience, it isn’t without its preventable, safety risks. HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Highland and HSHS Medical Group encourage parents to become familiar with basic safety tips to make sure their kids stay safe on Halloween.

“While Halloween safety tips often focus on the danger of candy to children, the most significant risk to young trick-or-treaters now comes from traffic,” noted Dr. Robert Schaefer, HSHS Medical Group family medicine physician. “Parents should check all candy for potential food allergies or choking risks, and they should ration their children's candy so it isn’t consumed all in one night.”

According to Safe Kids Worldwide, on average, children are more than twice as likely to be struck by a car on Halloween than on any other day of the year. To help kids stay safe during trick-or-treating, here are some tips for parents from the National Safety Council (NSC):

    On October 29, 2022, we will have a very special story time.  We will be reading pancake stories and have the honor of being served pancakes by the Scouts under the leadership of Kelly Dahm.  We plan on serving breakfast from 10:00-11:00.  It will be a delicious way to start your weekend!
 
     LEGO CLUB IS BACK AND IN FULL SWING!
     Tuesdays at 6 p.m. is Lego Club!  So many Legos! So many kids!  So many great ideas!  We are here to build friendships and creations galore!!!!  Stop in and build for a little while or build for hours.  It is all up to you!!!!  Every Tuesday at 6 p.m.!

 Please find attached the yoga class schedule for Oct. The new series begins on August 31 and you can book these classes through the momoyoga website (link below) beginning Monday, August 15.  
Notice a few additional classes and a new time (8:30 am) for the Saturday morning class - just a little bit later in the morning! 
 I'll be participating in the Treat on the Streets (TOTS) on Friday, Oct. 28 from 1:00-5:00 pm.  Stop by with your littles to get a treat!
