The Chamber of Commerce has been fortunate to have foreign exchange student Giulia assisting us with community events!  Her host family is here in Highland and she is attending HHS. If you see Giulia out and about, give her a warm welcome!

Hello, I am Giulia Florian and I am an exchange student from Italy, from a town called Conegliano in the north close to Venice.  
I arrived here the first days of August and I will be here for the whole year, I am loving Highland so far and the “American life” I have experienced and I am so glad to be here to live this opportunity.
I am a senior at Highland High School and I really enjoyed being part of the tennis team, going to football, volleyball and hockey games cheering my school, knowing new people every day and making new amazing friends. I live like an American student! 
In my free time I like to listen to music, read, play with my little host brother and our dog and spend time together with my beautiful host family.
I also started to know the Highland community by visiting parks, shops and restaurants, immersing myself in the American culture of this nice town, worked in a local haunted house and joined the Christmas parade.

Sponsorship Opportunities for Area Businesses
St. Paul Catholic School is currently seeking businesses interested in sponsoring live auction items at Viking Night.  This fundraiser at the KC Hall in Highland typically brings in about 400 people, and sponsors receive advertising in school and church publications, reaching over 1,000 homes.  Viking Night is St. Paul School’s largest fundraiser, providing much needed equipment and updated curriculum.

Rich Knebel Retires from Bradford National Bank
 
After 40 years of banking, Rich Knebel is retiring as a senior commercial lending officer at Bradford National Bank.  The announcement was made by Bradford National Bank president Michael Ennen.
 
Knebel began his banking career in 1981 and began working at Bradford National Bank in 2007 and served as commercial lending officer in the Highland market.  In 2015, he was promoted to senior vice president and senior lending officer where he managed the entire lending program at the bank.  He also served on the Bradford National Bank board of directors and will continue in that capacity.
 
Knebel said, “I’ve really enjoyed my tenure at Bradford National Bank.  Working for a community bank that works hard to serve the communities they serve is very rewarding.”  He added, “I’ve particularly enjoyed working with hundreds of commercial customers helping them start or grow their businesses.  Watching people succeed is very rewarding.”
 
Bank President Michael Ennen said, “I’ve really enjoyed working with Rich over the years.  Not only is he a great lending officer using his skills to assist customers with their business, but his wise council and knowledge of the banking industry has been instrumental in the growth of the bank.”  He added, “Rich leaves some big shoes to fill and he will be missed by both customers and staff alike.”
 
As a lifelong resident of the Highland area, Knebel is active in many local organizations.  In retirement, he looks forward to spending time with his growing family and traveling.
